Across South Africa’s rural heartlands, from KwaZulu-Natal to Limpopo and North West, the IINDELA programme is transforming lives. Aimed at orphans, vulnerable children and youth (OVCY), the initiative is equipping young people with both soft and hard skills to help them build a path toward independence and employability.
At the forefront of this effort is Rand Skills Enhancement Centre (RSEC), leading the hard skills training component of the programme. Learners gain hands-on experience in:
Property Maintenance
Electrical Wiring
Welding
Plumbing
Carpentry
Glazing
Fence maintenance
Waterproofing and more
This initiative doesn't just prepare youth for the job market, it gives them a reason to dream bigger.
Voices From the Field
“It was a very good learning experience, I learnt how to paint, fix doors, install water taps, and cut glass! In a rural place like this, I can now get small jobs and support my family. The PPE and tools provided are essential. I’m so grateful!”— Ramalisa Katlego
“As an unemployed youth, this training gave me the ability to maintain properties and carry out tasks like glazing, plumbing, carpentry, and even waterproofing. I finally feel skilled and confident.”— Kediemetse Nyathi
“Thanks to this programme, I helped maintain a local CCC. Giving back was the best feeling ever. I’ve got the confidence to start my own business now—and I can put food on the table!”— Hlulani Masinge
These testimonials reflect the power of skills development to change not just individual lives, but entire communities.
