As a proud subsidiary of ARCH, the Rand Skills Enhancement Centre (RSEC) is leading a transformative initiative in South Africa’s rail and manufacturing sector. By providing unemployed youth with practical skills and workplace experience, RSEC is bridging the gap between potential and opportunity.
Building Skills, Creating Futures
RSEC has developed and delivered over 25 artisan and technical training programmes, specifically designed to improve employability and spark entrepreneurship. To date, over 4,000 young people have completed these programmes, gaining both hands-on training and real-world placements.
This initiative is more than a skills programme, it’s a launchpad for careers and a catalyst for economic empowerment.
Success Stories from the Ground
“I would like to thank Rand Skills for the opportunity to learn a new skill and develop me toward my dream career! The skills I acquired at the training centre, coupled with the support I received at the workplace, have changed my life! I was absorbed soon after completing my training and I now work as an electrician.”— Siphiwe Augustine Molefe
“My experience at RSEC was very good. It was hard at first because I didn’t know anything about welding, but the training gave me the skills to adapt and apply my knowledge at the work site. I’ve been employed by the company where I did my workplace experience.”— Lindokuhle Rophina Dhladhla
These are just two of many stories that reflect the life-changing power of access to the right skills at the right time.
Beyond Employment: Giving Back to the Community
Graduates have not only gained jobs, they’ve given back to their communities. From repairing local churches to working in homes for the elderly, RSEC learners are using their new skills to uplift others.
One welding learner handcrafted a custom trophy for Gibela while employed at Drotsky.
Electrical trainees are now thriving at our flagship training centre.
Spray painting and vehicle body learners were hired by Charko and Safari Panel Beaters shortly after placement.
These real-world achievements underscore the impact and sustainability of the RSEC training model.
A Model That Works
The RSEC model proves that when young people are given the tools, training, and support, they don’t just fill job roles they create impact, strengthen industries, and inspire change.
Stay tuned for more success stories, community projects, and updates from RSEC as we continue to build a more skilled and empowered South Africa.
